The McMichael Canadian Art Collection Education/Events Internship

Gained an aptitude for detail orientation after updating all of the McMichael's creative programming documents to reflect the most current Ontario curriculum standards. While working on this project, I brainstormed new ways to incorporate the updated expectations and made important connections to Indigenous knowledge, Science, Environmental and Social Studies in order to attract a wider range of ages and school groups.

 Oversaw and engaged school groups during activities encouraging creative discussion on exhibits such as Maud Lewis and the Group of Seven. Assisted with material prep, demos, and studio facilitation.

Reviewed changes made to communication templates, scheduling procedures, and the communication process between teachers and departments. Investigated new options for gathering teacher feedback from surveys and brainstormed content for EDflash-the education newsletter. Reviewed and recorded coordination meeting notes. Completed important HR workplace documents.

Assisted with set up, tear down, and wayfinding for curatorial talks such as the "Group of 7 at 100" and the "Walter J. Phillips Curatorial Talk"

Assisted with the "Family Day Winter Fair" art workshops and the set up and wayfinding for Chris McKool's Kid Show and Horse & Wagon Rides. 

Designed a Social Studies/Visual Arts integrated lesson plan and educational activity for grade 6 based on the McMichael for class. Included a list of materials, detailed steps for carrying out activities, anticipated duration, and links to the Ontario Curriculum. Included an etiquette sheet for learners who may never have attended a gallery before.
